I had a busy week last week - it was an absolute privilege for me to have the ability to speak with Thomas Hampel about the HCL Domino Development State of the union 2024 at the two Let's Connect Nordics User Group Meetings in Oslo an Stockholm wearing my OpenNTF hat this time.
Great locations - great discussions - a big thanks to the Let's Connect Nordics Team for their effort and the outcome ! For those of you interested in the slides we presented - here's the link.
Domino IQ
One of the IMHO best announcements this year from HCL is Domino IQ. This new subsystem of HCL Domino will allow us to run local LLMs on the HCL Domino Server as well as some Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) features to add context data the the LLMs. It will support various LLMs locally like Llama v3.x, Mistral, Gemma 2 and more.
The idea is to deliver an infrastructure to AI-enable your applications on Domino with ease. The samples Thomas was demoing have been focusing on E-Mail and Calendar use cases but for me, I had instantly five new ideas how to leverage this in the context of solutions my customers are working with.
This can be a game-changer for HCL Domino if done right so I am really keen on testing this. Good news here - the first part (LLM Integration) will be available with the HCL Notes/Domino 14.5 EA2 code drop in December of this year. This might not contain the RAG stuff yet but this will be added later down the line in one of the next code drops for 14.5.
So - great things to come besides the regular investment that HCL is doing for HCL Notes/Domino - nice work!
Heiko.
